Non-governmental organization “Ukrainian Association of the Producers
of Water Purifying Equipment and Drinking Water” (Ukrainian Water
Association) was established in 1999 in order to improve
the mechanisms used for the supply of high quality drinking
water to people and render organizational and methodological
support to companies and organizations producing water purifying equipment
and drinking water.
Among a variety of challenges facing the supply of high quality drinking water
to people the following should be listed as priorities:
Imperfect and inadequate legislative framework establishing regulatory
and legal basis for the activities in the drinking
water sector.
Unsatisfactory sanitary and environmental condition of the main
sources of drinking water supply.
Obsolete water treatment technologies, deterioration of the existing
water mains, inadequate funding of water and wastewater facilities.
Inadequate material and technical basis for drinking water laboratory
control.
Low level of public awareness regarding tap water quality
parameters and relevant recommendations for post-treatment
means and techniques, etc.
To improve the situation in water sector in Ukraine the Association has set
the following key goals:
To promote the implementation of advanced technologies in water and waste water treatment and improvement of drinking water quality control.
To participate in the development of regulations and recommendations concerning protection of water resources, water treatment, water supply and drainage.
To support and develop links between governmental authorities, researches, water specialists and public.
To provide legal and social defense of the water specialists interests.
To collect and disseminate information concerning water sector by publishing of supplemental information and other water related literature, regular carrying out of exhibitions, conferences, seminars and educational activities.
To provide professional consultations to the Association members, water sector enterprises and public.
